NORRIS TOOLS

A nice beech handled A5 smoothing plane by Norris. This old infill plane maintains a good length parallel plane iron marked Norris London to front and Robt Sorby Sheffield England to rear of blade. Has a clean lever cap marked Norris London, the knurled blade adjuster is also marked Norris London. The body of this woodworking smoother plane has a few small dents plus light scratching (see photos), the original machine marks are still faintly visible in places on the body. The plane has a nice feel to it.

A dovetailed shoulder plane with rosewood infills and wedge. Front of the plane’s marked Norris London, 7, Steel. Retains a good length cutting iron also marked Norris London. Rear of body, wedge and blade are all marked with the no 2. Has small chip the wedge. The plane has a number of scratches and minor dents, the mouth of the plane is also slightly rounded (see photo). A nice old dovetailed Norris shoulder.

A nice dovetailed shoulder plane no 7 by Norris of London, with rosewood wedged and infill. Retains a good length snecked cutting iron. Body, wedge and cutter are all marked with the no 1. Rosewood infill and wedge are lightly marked with the previous users name stamp. Body has some very light speckling of pitting/staining, sole of the shoulder plane has clean crisp edges. A nice old Norris woodworking plane in good condition.

A rosewood infill shoulder plane with a fine mouth made by Norris. Front of infill is marked Norris London. Retains a good length cutting iron also marked Norris London. Rear of plane is stamped Patent Metal. Rear screw has been rounded (see photo), body has some minor dents and a light patch of minor pitting. A nice old collectable shoulder plane.

Coffin shaped A5 smoothing plane by Norris. Retains the original good length cutting iron marked Norris London to front side and Robt Sorby to the rear. Cutter has 45mm (1 3/4") to the slot. Lever cap is also marked Norris London along with the brass knurled blade adjusting knob. The body and cutting iron have some minor patches of light pitting / staining. Ebonised infills maintain an estimated 90-95% enamel, main loss is to the top of the front infill, also marked with the previous users name stamp to the front of infill. A fine old A5 smoothing plane in good condition with all parts moving smoothly.

Coffin shaped A5 smoothing plane by Norris with beech handles that have been professionally re-ebonised. Lever cap, lateral adjuster and cutting iron are all marked Norris London, the blade is also marked Robt Sorby Sheffield England to the reverse side of the blade. There is also some heavy pitting to the blade, this won’t effect the planes use as the pitting is above the slot, with the main face of the blade clean and free of any staining or pitting. The body is also marked with a few light patches of pitting. A collectable Norris Smoothing Plane in good working order.

An ebonized coffin shaped smoothing plane A5 by Norris. Maintains a good length parallel cutting iron marked Norris London, rear of cutters marked Robt Sorby Sheffield England, rear of this cutter also has some pitting though the front of the blade is clean and free from pitting so this won’t effect its use in any way. Lever caps marked Norris London and maintains a large amount of its original protective coating, lateral adjuster is also marked Norris London. The body maintains and estimated 60% of its original protective coating. The front infill has a couple of dents. The sole of this Norris plane has some light scratches, infills appear to of been professionally re-ebonised.

A fine mouthed steel dovetailed shoulder plane no 7 by Norris and made with rosewood infill and wedge (slight wear to front of wedge where previous uses knocked the wedge out, see enlarged photo). The blade and nose of this shoulder plane are marked Norris London, The blade, wedge and plane body are also marked with the no 12. the orginal Norris blade has very little iron remaining (see photo). A good plane for its age with normal ware through use.

Lever caps marked Norris London and the blade adjuster is also marked Norris. The ebonized handle and infill maintains an estimated 85% if its original finish. The plane body has one small patch of pitting to sole. The infils also has the previous users name stamps

A coffin shaped Norris A5 smoothing plane, maintains a good length plane iron marked Norris London to front and Robt Sorby Sheffield England to rear. Lever cap and blade adjuster are also marked Norris London. The blade on this plane only adjusts the depth of cut, not laterally The body has some pitting mainly light, plus light scratching, the lever cap also has some light scratching, handles have some loss of ebony to the ebonised beech handles.
