Body maintains an estimated 96-98% of its japanning. The original machine marks to outer body are still faintly visible. Sole is marked with some minor black staining. This Stanley no. 3 woodworking plane comes complete with the Stanley box.

A scarce X4 smoothing plane made by Marples. Retains a good length blade is marked W.Marples & Sons Sheffield England, solid crucible steel. Both rear handle and front knob lack much of the original black finish. Outer body is marked with some black staining and minor pitting. Has a small chip to side of mouth (see photo). A good collectable and hard to find Marples X4 woodworking plane.
